information
The School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) competition is organised by Dewberry Redpoint on behalf of the Local Authority Caterers' Association.
SCOTY is the only dedicated culinary competition especially tailored for our industry. It was established and is managed by school caterers for school caterers.
It has grown over the years into a significant, highly professional and widely respected annual event and all participants, not just the winners, have achieved wide recognition and kudos within their authorities, schools and local communities. In many cases, winners have gone on to enhance their careers as a result of School Chef of the Year.
The School Chef of the Year judging criteria are tough but the skills and standards demonstrated by all the participants across the country, send a clear message to all of our customers - from Head Teachers and Governors to parents and young people. And that is, our talented front line staff in schools not only prepare tasty, highly creative dishes to tempt the taste buds of discerning children and young people but also nutritious school meals that can make a major contribution towards altering eating habits, improving diets and decreasing obesity levels.
To both accommodate the growth in the Competition and to reflect the format of other high profile professional catering competitions, you will see that School Chef of the Year 2011 has an exciting new format, so please take time to read through the 2011 Participation Pack and Entry Pack below.
